How Much Does A CPA Cost?

CPAs typically charge by the hour for their services. The exact amount, however, depends on the level of experience of the CPA and the complexity of the work at hand. For example, some businesses want to outsource their entire accounting department, while others just need an extra pair of eyes to review documents during tax season. Call our Las Vegas accounting firm at (702) 242-3444 to speak directly with our accounting professionals. We’ll help you find out what services you need and how much they cost.

What Does A CPA Do?

While working in public accounting firms, a certified public accountant may have a wide range of duties. This includes everything from general bookkeeping and preparing financial statements to bespoke business consulting and audit and assurance services.

At the Haynie & Company Las Vegas CPA firm, we offer the following services:

What’s the Difference Between A CPA and Accountant?

All certified public accountants (CPAs) are accountants, but not all accountants are CPAs.

The designation of “CPA” means a person is a certified public accountant who has passed a CPA exam and met other specific educational and CPA license requirements for the state in which they practice. Thus, when it comes to performing more advanced accounting duties and complying with IRS regulations, a CPA is more qualified than an accountant. In addition, only a CPA can prepare audited financial statements and file reports with the Securities and Exchange Committee (SEC).

Do You Need An Accounting Degree to Be A Certified Public Accountant?

It depends! Different states have different requirements for CPA licensing. Most of them require at least 150 credit hours of college education, including a certain number of accounting and business courses. Some states also require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, while others are more flexible and accept degrees in other disciplines as long as they meet the minimum accounting and business course requirements.

To become a certified public accountant (CPA) in Nevada, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete 150 semester hours of college-level education in accounting, including 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits in Business core courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Complete 4,000 hours/two years of full-time work experience in the industry.
  • Pass the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) ethics course and exam with a score of 90% or higher.
  • Apply for and pass the Uniform CPA Exam.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Apply for a license with the Nevada State Board of Accountancy and pay the required fees.
