A Preliminary Guide to Getting Started

TaxCaddy is an exciting new solution that simplifies tax time by allowing you to collaborate with your tax professional more efficiently than ever before. To ensure a smooth and stress-free transition, we’ve prepared onboarding instructions in three easy steps to familiarize yourself with how to get started once you receive your TaxCaddy invitation email. Let’s take a look:

Step 1: Sign Up

In mid-January, you will receive a TaxCaddy invitation email from your tax professional. When you receive the invitation email, click the Sign Up Free button. Create a password, select your three security questions, and follow the steps to create your TaxCaddy account.

Step 2: Connect

Log in to your TaxCaddy account and accept your tax professional’s connection request. Accepting the connection request allows your tax professional to send you messages and requests, see your tax documents, send you letters, and upload your tax return for your review.

Step 3: Begin

Your spouse or a financial advisor can be added as an additional user and granted access to your TaxCaddy account anytime. You can link to your banks and brokerages and let TaxCaddy automatically retrieve your tax documents if you choose. Install the TaxCaddy app for iPhone or Android to take photographs of paper documents as you receive them.

  3. Secure Login: During setup, you’ll have 14 days to create a secure password and set up two-factor authentication, ensuring the utmost security for your personal information. If you do not set up your password within 14 days, a new email notification will inform you that the link is expiring soon. Use the link in that email to request a new one.
  4. Familiarize Yourself with the Dashboard: Once logged in, take a moment to explore the TaxCaddy dashboard. Here, you’ll find various tools and features to manage your tax documents and communicate with us.
  5. Upload Your Documents: Start by uploading your tax documents. TaxCaddy’s intuitive interface makes uploading, categorizing, and managing your files easy.
  6. Stay Connected: TaxCaddy allows for seamless communication with us. Feel free to send messages or queries directly through the platform.

Making the Most of TaxCaddy: A Guide for New Users

Thank you for accepting our invitation to our new client collaboration platform, TaxCaddy. Please follow these steps to ensure your TaxCaddy account is properly set up. For technical support and troubleshooting assistance, click the Help Center at the top of or email


  1. CONNECT – Log in to your TaxCaddy account, navigate to the Overview screen, and click the Accept Connection button to establish a connection with our firm. Learn more about connecting.
  2. ADD AUTHORIZED USERS – To provide access to your spouse or others, click your name in the top right corner and then Settings. Click Additional User Account and enter their information. They will receive an invitation email to create a linked account with the same steps you have already completed. Learn more about adding additional user accounts..
  3. DOWNLOAD & USE THE TAXCADDY MOBILE APP – The TaxCaddy mobile app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store or Google Play. It provides a convenient way to access your information and communicate with us directly from your mobile phone. Learn more about the TaxCaddy mobile app.
  4. PROVIDE YOUR TAX INFORMATION – In your TaxCaddy account, you’ll find a Tax Questionnaire and a Document Request List.
    1. Setting up “Smart Links” with your financial institutions to automatically retrieve tax documents is optional. As documents become available, they will be automatically retrieved and placed in your TaxCaddy account. Learn more about Smart Links
    2. Photoscanning the document with the TaxCaddy mobile app.
    3. Uploading files.

  6. COMPLETE THE QUESTIONNAIRE – Provide answers to the Questionnaire by navigating to the TaxCaddy Questionnaire. Learn more about the questionnaire.
  7. SEND & RECEIVE MESSAGES – Ask questions and provide answers in TaxCaddy’s Messages tab on the navigation bar to ensure we have the information we need to prepare your return. Learn more about messages.
