09 Aug 2022 DEI Employee Resource Groups
Like many leading employers, Haynie & Company continues to put resources into workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. For our CPAs, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play a major role in the DEI program.
What are Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)?
Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups created to foster a strong, diverse community. ERGs are gaining popularity, but they have been around since the 1960s-1980s at large corporations like Xerox and AT&T.
ERGs are led and participated in by employees who share a characteristic or interest. The groups provide support and create a safe space where employees can bring their whole selves to the table. Everyone is encouraged to join an ERG, either as a member or as an ally.
ERGs and Family
Family is a core value at Haynie & Company. And ERGs are all about family and community. These groups help our team feel more connected and recognized in the workplace. It is a safe environment to grow and learn from others based on culture, identity, shared interests, and more. Each group forges its path. Some include volunteerism and activism and others offer a place to share and connect.
Do ERGs Work?
You will find Employee Resource Groups in 90% of Fortune 500 companies. These groups are known for improving work environments, bringing employees together, tackling company-wide challenges, and spurring innovation.

We currently have eight ERGs at Haynie. The group leaders and all DEI leaders are Haynie employees. We are thankful for the dedicated employees who volunteer to make Haynie better. Haynie & Company employees can join an ERG anytime. Email Celina Ochoa to ask questions or join.
