05 Oct 2020 Utah Governor Announces Small Business Grant
On October 1, 2020, Utah Governor Herbert announced the launch of a new $2 million “Small Business Quarantined Employee Grant” for small businesses in Utah.
The grant was created using federal CARES Act funding as a way to provide an important lifeline to Utah’s many small businesses who may be experiencing payroll issues during the pandemic.
Small businesses who are eligible for the grant will have less than 50 employees, and will be able to spend grant funds on employee reimbursement for staff who have either:
- Tested positive for COVID-19 and subsequently been asked to isolate/quarantine OR
- Had confirmed exposure to someone who tested positive and subsequently been asked to isolate/quarantine

Total Grant Amount: $2,000,000
Expected number of awards: Awards for the Small Business Quarantined Employee Grant will be awarded based on available funds and disbursed on a qualifying first come, first served basis.
Application Deadline: December 30, 2020 is the final quarantined or isolated day for which a request may be made under this grant. All grant requests must be made on or before 5:00 PM, Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Program End Date: When available funds are exhausted or December 30, 2020.
