Dave Peterson, CPA, began with Haynie & Company as a student intern in 1975 and excelled. After he graduated from the University of Utah in 1977, Haynie & Company offered Dave a full partnership in the firm. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, with minors in math and computer science.

 

As a member of both American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA), Dave is active in the professional accounting community. He has chaired UACPA’s Public Relations Committee, and served on their Political Action Committee. He is also part of the Private Companies Practice Session of the AICPA. In 2020 Dave was recognized by Accounting Today as a Managing Partner Elite.

 

As a small business specialist, David R. Peterson fills the unique needs of smaller companies with services ranging from tax planning to the creation of accounting systems. The management advisory services he provides are especially useful for fast-growing, start-up, or troubled businesses.

 

Dave provides further consultation as an employer/employee relations specialist, utilizing the Predictive Index. With this proven personality evaluation tool, Dave assists clients in evaluating employees’ strengths, and further counsels clients on strategies for increasing effectiveness and overall motivation.

 

Internationally, Dave is a past member of “Choice Humanitarian,” a charity that provides training, service, and goods to villages in Mexico, Bolivia, Vietnam, Nepal, and Kenya. Locally, Dave’s community service includes membership on the Downtown Planning Committee and the Planned Gifts Committee of Primary Children’s Hospital. Former member of the Alzheimer’s Board of Utah. Currently serving on the Executive Committee of Pioneer Memorial Company Board of Directors. He is also serving on the Board of Tanner Humanities Center for World leaders guest speakers. He is an active University of Utah Crimson Club member and a past president and past treasurer of the Ute Little League Football program. He enjoys art, electronic gadgetry, fast cars, and stamp collecting. Dave is married, and has five children and seventeen grandchildren.
