San Antonio: Battle of Flowers

San Antonio: Battle of Flowers

A San Antonio Holiday, The Battle of Flowers Parade serves as an integral part of the citywide fiesta celebration. Although the celebrations look different this year the Haynie & Company San Antonio Office is still joining in on the fun!

The Battle of Flowers Parade originally started by a small group of passionate, dedicated women in 1891. What began as a patriotic celebration to honor the heroes of the Alamo, Goliad and the Battle of San Jacinto has since evolved into one of the oldest and largest parades in the country. The Battle of Flowers Association is a civic-non-profit organization, whose objective is to teach the history of the state of Texas and keep the traditions of Texas and San Antonio Alive. The first Battle of Flowers parade started the Fiesta tradition in San Antonio and is the oldest even of Fiesta San Antonio, celebrating more than 130 years.

Fiesta San Antonio has now grown into a 10 day celebration of San Antonio’s diverse cultures, and is one of the nation’s premier festivals.

This years’ parade has been cancelled due to Covid-19 but that didn’t stop our San Antonio Office from celebrating.

What are the unique celebrations in your city? With 15 locations across 6 states the Haynie team enjoys celebrating the unique culture of each local area.
