Austin, TX: Holiday Tree Project

Austin, TX: Holiday Tree Project

The Haynie & Company Austin Team has been working on a number of community projects this fall. One of these projects included the first annual Haynie Gives: Holiday Tree Auction. The proceeds from the sale of each decorated tree benefits a non-profit selected by the local Haynie office. For the Haynie & Company Austin Crew, the Texas-themed Tree was slated to benefit the Central Texas Food Bank, a non-profit that has been fighting hunger in Central Texas since 1982.

The Austin Tree donation total of $1,015 was reported at the close of the Auction. The Austin Team communicated the donation total to the Development Director, Melinda Gonzales Boe, of the Central Texas Food Bank. She replied, ”Thank you so much for thinking of us for this fundraiser. We are very honored to be a part of this event.” She added, “With our current holiday matching gift challenge, and a donation of $1000, the gift will be matched to double the impact of the number of meals provided from 4,000 to 8,000!”

The Team was hoping for a “Texas-sized bidder” to claim the Austin-inspired tree and help out the Food Bank. The Austin Tree was designed with festive, Texas-themed highlights. From the vintage cowboy hat tree topper, to the slew of surprises under the tree. The tree auction winner was in for a treat including an array of Austin-themed culinary experiences. Under the tree, gift cards from some of Austin’s favorite restaurants including Fonda San Miguel, Franklin’s BBQ, Torchy’s Tacos, Hopdoddy, and Kerbey Lane were wrapped with style. The winner also received a $250 credit from Haynie & Company’s Austin office toward the preparation of a 2020 Tax Return. This Austin Tree package also included several fun pieces of art, hand-made cozy blankets, vintage cowboys boots, horseshoes, hats, signs, cowboy-inspired ornaments, and more. A generous donation was also provided by Austin Luxury Moving to transport the purchased tree to the Austin auction winner. Thank you Luxury Moving!

The Austin Haynie & Company Team also had several opportunities to volunteer at the Central Texas Food Bank located at Westover Church on Mesa. Each Saturday, more than 220 families drive through to receive sacks of produce and groceries. According to the Food Bank staff, the number of families visiting on Saturdays has dramatically increased during the months of the global pandemic.
